About the Letters of Credit Course Programme

Letters of Credit provide a tremendous challenge to the exporter. If they can meet the terms and conditions by providing timely and accurate documentation then the exporter can receive the benefits of prompt payments for their overseas orders. If they do not meet the terms and conditions, then the consequences can be very great, as the exporter can be left with bad debts, frustrated customers and extra administration and costs. In order to comply fully with Letters of Credit, exporters need to have adequate training and experience on both shipping and documentation methods and practice. This can not be achieved by just "copying from the last order" but by receiving formal training on the correct practice and procedure when handling Letters of Credit.

The ETS Letters of Credit course is not a "Starter" course but aims to take delegates with some exporting experience and develop their skills in the processing of this payment procedure. Exporters will learn how the UCP600/ISBP rules can assist in the process and receive general training on the documentation, banking procedure and "good practice" methods. Whilst this course covers the subject matter from the exporters perspective, some buyers who open Letters of Credit for international purchases will find a lot of the course very relevant.
